learn french I have reviewed learn french quick to help you make a smart decision

The only French I spoke before purchasing these tapes was to say my name is Melodee and I don’t speak French. For those of us who know nothing of the language the repetition was great. I know how to ask for things such as food, drink, directions. I’m clever enough to apply the rules and make sentences using different combinations of the words I’ve learned. These tapes teach the way a child learns, completely through listening. Children are not taught I speak, you speak, he/she/it speaks. They simply listen and repeat. After listening to the tapes I went to other sources to read the actual words and was astonished at the differences in how I would say what I read and the actual pronunciation of the words. Seeing the words after learning how the French pronounce them gives you a clear idea of where the nasal sounds are. I’ve just purchased the lengthy version of French I and am very excited to get started. I’m only going to be in Paris for 5 days this visit but I want to have a few phrases under my belt. My current favorite is “I would like some wine, please.” A French woman I know said she is impressed with my pronunciation and understanding of basic French. Congratulations on being Freshly Pressed!

Thanks for the informative Yellow Pages post, and for the record – I do occasionally use the printed version.

We are entering challenging times for advertisers – as we have often discussed here, not everyone has a computer, smart phone or easy access to one. It's not always a smart decision to abandon print.

Oh yeah, another thing I’ve been doing: in addition to just watching French movies and TV shows, have a good French/English dictionary handy and try looking up words you don’t know. I feel this is helping me understand common spoken French very well (obviously, in addition to other things [Rosetta Stone, Pimsleur French audio books, etc]) – it’s helping me actually hear the words and where one words stops and the next starts. My favorite things to watch so far have been dubbed cartoons and kids movies (namely Pixar stuff) – 1) I love cartoons anyway 2) the language is easier to understand 3) it’s not quite as noticeable like a dubbed French movie that was originally in English.
