I had to learn french for professional reasons, and surfed the web looking for self-teaching software. Fluenz french was the best product I found. I liked the pace at which it proceeds, I like the simulation of classroom instruction, and I like the structure of the drills. I found it a bit slow at first, but now that I am into it, I’m starting to get a grasp on the structure of french.
I should say, too, that the software is very well organized, and very easy to use. When I had a problem at one point, the user support group was very responsive and very helpful.
This is my first choice for a self-teaching language program. I kept my name, for professional reasons as well as the whole pride factor: I'm one of four girls so the name would not pass on. My kids have my husbands name; people who don't know me professionally call me by my husbands name. I'm happy with the way it's working! Although I read an article recently in which the author recommended everyone keeping their own name, and daughters take the mother's name, and sons take the fathers name. I liked that.
There are definitely times where I *can’t* have sex. I have a seizure disorder, and after episodes, I just need rest. But he gets so much sex otherwise that he would never even dream of pushing it even one tiny inch when I’m in that condition. We have sex literally every day *at least*, unless I have a seizure or one of us is sick. I think the distinction should be made between ‘I absolutely do not want anyone touching me now’ and ‘I’d rather be watching Project Runway.’ If she has very strong anti-sex feelings, then they probably just need to talk about why their appetites don’t match very well. If she just has mild ‘eh’ feelings, then I would suggest to her, based on my own experience, that she give it the old college try anyhow. I am spreading the notion that it’s sometimes a good idea to do things for your partner even though it wouldn’t be your first choice of activity for the evening – I had to watch ‘Too Big to Fail’, for instance, major yawn-fest, but he loved it. I am not spreading the notion that people should either a) stay in relationships where they aren’t getting enough sex or b) actually consent to sex when they are disgusted by it and will feel violated or angry afterwards. Another important thing to note is that I’m marrying this man, and I do not want to divorce. I probably wouldn’t put this level of tolerance, sacrifice and understanding into someone I didn’t intend to have a long, child-filled life with. I also wouldn’t treat someone so well if he didn’t do the *exact same* for me, which he does. We really do believe in putting the other person first, which is no longer a popular notion.
