In general, the Step-by-books by Charles Berlitz are usually pretty good. They provide an excellent way for one to become familiar with a new language at a reasonable cost.

I didn’t particulary care for this book as an instructional book. However, it is an excellent way to figure out how to translate from English to French. I used this book by covering up the French sentence and the phonetic sentence so only the English sentence showed and then translated it into French. Work through a chapter, and then go back and check your work. Great fun!

I was expecting more from this software. I mean, I thought I’d be able to learn more things from it. It’s really basic and limited. I did the whole thing in less than a week. I was expecting more from it; more content, varied activities (they’re kind of repetetive and even boring to a certain extent). I don’t recommend this product for people like me, fast learners who get bored easily. I recommend it for teenagers and kids that are real beginners of French. Not me.
