I moved to Japan when I was 23, lived there for 10 years (until last month actually). Then, after getting my MBA, I looked for “business” work, and realised I didn’t want to become a sarariman that badly after all. I decided that starting my own company in China might be much more fun, and moved there three weeks ago. I need to learn Chinese and observe Chinese society a lot more before I open business, but in two years maybe? In the meantime, I quite like it here – though the food is sadly nowhere near as good as I expected.
LOL about Ron, but didn't u like his reality check talks when Dwayne was in his dreamy state of mind?#adifferentworld

A number of those choices would make you very rich (1, 5, 9, 10), but only one would maker you smarter and better read than any human on the planet. Number 3 is my choice. If I’m in a Barnes and Noble or a library, sometimes I’ll have the fantasy that I want to *know* all the info in every single book. Which is, of course, impossible. It wouldn’t take you but a year or two at the most to read *every book ever written in any language*. Because, of course, you’d absorb language learning books and could learn those languages as well.
глядя на великого соседа, иногда подумываешь, а не пора ли учить китайский? Looking at the great neighbor, sometimes we think, whether it is time to learn the Chinese language?
Skype is an excellent tool for language learning. You can create your own form of virtual immersion, once you’ve gotten through the basics. Consider continuing Spanish, as you have at least 40hrs of learning rolling around somewhere in your subconscious. That said, if you’re not feeling it, dive into Mandarin. For immersion: set aside at least four hours, for at least two consecutive days each week. Read a foreign-language paper each day (I used clarin). Watch foreign-language movies with the subtitles turned on; start with it in your own language. If you’ve seen the movie a few times, switch to the foreign language on the subtitles. Have some 15 minute plus conversations via Skype. Run through the usual software aides like Rosetta stone, or anything else available on the net. Try doing some basic translations. Read translations of valuable documents, such as the UN Declaration of Human Rights. I can tell you, whether it’s learning an instrument or learning a new language, immersing yourself in 4 hour blocks, on consecutive days, makes a big difference. The 1-hour a day school system method is not a reasonable model. It may take several years to learn — I’m still not proficient in Spanish, nor in any instruments… But I’ve gotten to the point where I enjoy the interactions. That is, they’ve become a lot less frustrating.
