Chinese Investors Approached Alberta Pension Fund Over Potash
Chinese investors approached the Alberta Investment Management Corp., a Canadian pension fund, to consider a possible joint bid for Potash Corp. of Saskatchewan Inc., the fund’s chief executive officer told BNN Television television today. Leo de Bever said the Alberta fund wasn’t interested in a bid for the fertilizer maker, which is the target of a hostile bid from BHP Billiton Ltd.

According to the Heartland Institute – Senators Rockefeller and Snowe wrote a letter to the Chief Executive Officer of ExxonMobil asking him to stop funding scientists who reject global warming, Lord Monckton wrote a letter to the senators reminding them of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution and calling on them to reverse their position or resign.

Nick (#6) – Yes, these things worry me as well. I hope that a paid off house that I can sell when I’m older will cover any long-term care needs. This last week I moved some of my mutual funds out into a money market account while I decide what to do with it because of the concerns I have of volatility. I personally believe that the Canadian pension system is more secure than the US’s. Hopefully I’m not wrong about that.
